Stage 1, Ad hoc (scores 0-7): experimenting, little written down, nothing that reliably repeats. Stage 2, Mixed (scores 8-16): parts of the setup are solid and parts are fragile, and they look the same from the outside. Stage 3, Compounding (scores 17-24): documented, repeatable and easy to get back to, so each thing built makes the next one easier rather than starting again.

Eight dimensions: how broadly you use AI, how structured your prompting is, how clearly you define a problem before building, how much repeatable work runs without you carrying things between tools, whether you could explain how your workflows run, testing discipline, whether you know what your AI tools can see, and how often you rebuild something you had already solved. Each scored 0-3. Two of them, documentation and rebuilds, also gate the top stage, because a setup nobody has written down is fragile rather than advanced however sophisticated it looks.
